Christmas means a lot of things to a lot of people. Family, friends, partying, gifts, eating too much, Santa Claus, sleeping in and even stress. All fair, all relevant.

The one meaning that I cannot dispute as to why this day exists is because that of a single person. Just a person. Not a saviour. Not a god. Not anything more than a person. And, what that person represented; Love.

Amidst the dogma, precepts and tenets, there was only one reason for that star to shine in the night sky over two thousand years ago. Not for anyone, but for everyone. For Love.

Christmas opens our Hearts. It carries with it an energy and power that is unlike any other. It is the power of connection. Whether aware or not, we have all felt this energy. I have felt this energy and I know that it isn’t able to speak to my Heart and not yours, for either none of us are special or all of us are special. And I don’t believe the former to be true.

The power of this energy, this connection, is yours with no bounds. It was always meant for you. It is a power of kindness, compassion, forgiveness and, of course, Love. It is a power of true meaning. It is a power to see the beauty in the Hearts of others. It is a power to see the beauty in your own Heart. It is a power to overcome our fears, our insecurities and our doubts and to realize our courage, our resilience and our confidence in ourselves and in each other. This is the feeling we were meant to have always. This is a real power you own not just for one day of the year, but for every day.

It’s not just about how strongly we can Love in the best of times, it is too, about how strongly we can persevere in the name of Love in the not-so-best of times. Christmas, I think, is a time where we all let our guard down. We let our guard down because it’s not really where our Heart wants to be, even though we sometimes put it there. The power of Christmas, the connection to each other, the connection to those close to us, is so special on this day that Love has no choice but to prevail. To be more triumphant than its counterparts that act to silence it.

It’s simple. It’s always been simple. Just Love. Everything fades out except for the reason that star shone in the night sky so long ago; Love. It is everywhere in your life.

“We all make mistakes. Which means, hey, glass half full, we all have a lot in common. And, the more we try to understand one another, the more exceptional each of us will be.

But, we have to try….I implore you, try. Try to make the world a better place. Look inside yourself and recognize that change starts with you. It starts with me. It starts with all of us.”
