“Different” is nothing more than misunderstood knowledge. It is the derivation of a conclusion based upon facts that do not rely upon it. It is to say, you are not like me and because I know me, I formulate my opinion of you based upon what I know of myself. And, you are different than me; you don’t make sense.

For those that this doesn’t make sense for, I would ask if you’ve ever felt “different”. Or, if you’ve ever been witness to “different”. Different isn’t always about judgement, dislike or disapproval. Often, it’s just about the unwillingness to understand. It’s like going to a Halloween party and being the only guest not wearing a costume. You may surely get a few arrows slung your way, hopefully, in good fun, but no one really actually cares to know more. Except, you care. You can’t help but feel uncomfortable and wish you were like everyone else; at least maybe for that one night.

Would it really be better to be like everyone else? Is that really the point? At the end of it all, whether it be that night, that year or that lifetime, there is just your truth of your Self. Not wearing a costume when everyone else is, takes courage. It takes bravery and trust in who you are. It takes an understanding that you, no matter how your pieces fit together, contribute to the true universal puzzle.

We often think that the true, real “us” is scary. But, the costume is the truly scary façade. It is the shroud that conceals what is really there. It is inevitable that the longer the costume is worn, the more it becomes tattered and torn, revealing what is underneath. If we become the costume, we not only fool those around us, but we fool ourselves. We deny who we truly are. And, who we are is what is truly beautiful.

That which is not true, cannot truly be Loved. The ultimate goal, whether or not a part of your current lifetime, is that of unconditional Love. One cannot give what they do not possess. Unconditional Love does not come with a costume. It comes with the acceptance and embrace of what is true.

The more the truth is embraced, whether from the privacy of your own home or bellowed from the top of a mountain, the more powerful the Love of the universe grows. It’s like the CareBear Stare. More Care Bears = stronger stare. More Love of the truth = stronger universe.

Be different.

Be Love.
