what have you got against cucumbers?

There is a big mix out there, and there’s lots of different things going on, and there is not one way that was intended to be the right way. Just like there’s not one color or one flower or one vegetable or one fingerprint. There is not one that is to be the right one over all others. The variety is what fosters the creativity. And so you say, “Okay, I accept that there’s lots of variety, but I don’t like to eat cucumbers.” Don’t eat cucumbers. But don’t ask them to be eliminated and don’t condemn those who eat them. Don’t stand on corners waving signs trying to outlaw the things that you don’t like. Don’t ruin your life by pushing against. Instead, say, “I choose this instead. This does please me.”

marriage isn’t everything, Love is

by Jillian Benfield

ScaryMommy.com

A year ago, my husband and I went to the most beautiful wedding we will probably ever attend. If there were a show called “My Celebrity Style Wedding,” this wedding would have been on it. It was at a multi-million dollar beachfront home, with multiple bands, dozens of food stations and even synchronized swimmers in the backyard pool. As stunning as it all was, nothing stood out to me more than something the rabbi said during the ceremony. He said, “Marriage is not the most important thing, it is the only important thing.” It stuck with me.

When you have a child with Down syndrome, you get inducted into a club. Other parents reach out to you, they calm you, they strengthen you, they get you. A week after we brought our son home from the NICU, another club member sent my husband and me an e-mail. She found out her son had Down syndrome right after he was born. She wrote about all of the fears she had and how her son is constantly proving most of those fears to be unfounded. She talked about the hope she has for his future.

When we were done reading, my husband looked at me; he was barely able to speak. The tears ran down his face with such force that his throat started to close up, but he was able to choke out a sentence that I will never forget: “I hope he meets a girl with Down syndrome, I want him to love someone the way I love you.”

When we were in the diagnosis phase, I think it was this very topic that haunted me the most. Marriage was so important to me, to us; would he ever get to experience it for himself? Will he ever find someone to love and will that someone love him back? As life expectancy increases for people with Down syndrome, so does the marriage rate. But it appears that when people with Down syndrome get married, it’s a newsworthy event. It’s still not commonplace.

I want him to get married, but I now realize that I want him to get married because marriage has brought me so much joy. Marriage makes me a better person. But just because I have chosen to make it the center of my life, doesn’t mean that it has to be the center of his life. And that would be OK. Our job as parents isn’t to make photocopy versions of our selves. Our job is to instill our good values in our children, but also to teach them to be independent, to make their own decisions, to make their own lives.

So, to the rabbi, I kindly disagree. Marriage isn’t the only thing, love is. Maybe our son won’t love someone the way his Dad and I love each other, but he will love and he will be loved. He will love his sister, his grandparents, his cousins and maybe even a wife. Married or unmarried, our son’s life will be full of love.

 100000ft2 – I’m selling unconditional love for $0.00
Hello, I am selling unconditional love for $0.

Infinite square feet lot. Includes refreshing air, sunshine, the Earth, beautiful mountains and the ocean. A stunning ‘classic’ heritage made 4.5 billion years ago.

Address: Earth, Solar System, Milky Way.

Available now to serious buyers. Perfect for the first-time buyer and experienced investors feeling empty and trapped with stress and pressure to maximize Return on Investment because of family and stakeholders expectation.

HISTORY:
I received it a long time ago when I was born. I received the gift of life from my parents, the sun, the water, the Earth, the air, a smile, a hug, a helping hand, without being asked anything in return. I didn’t earn any of them. They belong to public domain, the commons, “Mother Earth” or God, if you’re religious.

At some point, my ancestors were afraid and decided to own land that once belonged to everyone, sell services that were once freely given, and even own humans through debt. Since it was claimed or stolen by those who made the laws themselves with a series of ‘legitimate’ transfers, then any law that enforces private ownership is perpetuating a crime. Not all laws are morally just. Only recently, slavery was legal and women weren’t allowed to vote. Why pay for something that was stolen from you? They made a mistake. I’m sorry. Let’s start fresh with this new sale.

Although I am only one human and my time and resources are limited, my soul and the intention of love is eternal, and so is yours… and I would like us to share that experience.

PAYMENT:
I don’t accept cheques or mortgage payments, only cash payments of $0. You are also welcome to re-sale it for $0. But I must warn you… it will multiply once you do.

CONTACT ME:
If you would like to join this incredible investing opportunity, you can email me by clicking on ‘reply’ to this post or visiting gifteconomy.ca

“The best real estate ad ever in Vancouver.”
“Brilliant!”
“Hi, I have been suffering from severe depression and anxiety for years. Your ad and the article about your gift circle gave me something I haven’t felt for what feels in forever… Hope.”
“Greetings. I am interested in investing ALL of my wealth, totalling $0.00, and would ask that you offer any real estate of my surplus $0.00 to those less fortunate.
“Thank you for the smiles. <3 I am hunting for a home, dreaming that one might be affordable…I loved reading your ad. It was reassuring to my soul.”

…More comments
“Thank you, bless you!!! YOU have sent out the best medicine to us all.. ”
“This is the best sale in a human history . . .”
“WE need this. My husband and I are fighting separate battles against depression, anxiety, addiction, and the everyday injustices of immoral lawmakers. We may lose our home.”
“Is it a dream? your ad, if its for real, made me cry out of emotion, since I believe is the way to return to our healthy connection with mother Earth and ourselves, as a human community with relationships anchored in Love, no more fear. ”
From a 14 year old: “I was actually talking to my sister recently, and she asked about my iPod Touch that I had stopped using, because I’ve switched to my mum’s old iPhone 4s, so I asked “what were you planning to do with it?”, and she told me about this gifting circle and little about your story. I was beyond interested. I mean, what kind of 14 year old isn’t interested in cool stuff, and being able to chip into the city she lives in?”

Frequently Asked Questions:
“Why are you selling the Earth for $0?”
I’m simply correcting the housing bubble. The Earth’s asking price for its abundant gifts to us has always been $0.00.

“Do I have to be a good person to deserve this gift?”
No. The Sun rises on both the evil and the good, the Earth’s rain falls on both the righteous and the wrongdoers.. That’s the Sun’s and the Earth’s unconditional love to all of us. We didn’t earn any of it.

“What does free property have anything to do with unconditional love?”
Everything. Here’s a beautiful poem that may answer your question: “”Even After All this time The Sun never says to the Earth, “You owe me.” Look What happens With a love like that, It lights the whole sky.” – Hafiz, A persian poet of the 1300.

“Can you do that? Is this legal? What if the government evicts me?”
Since I’m returning the Earth which rightfully belongs to everyone, then it makes all previous legal title claims over the Earth invalid. Love is rebellious and revolutionary.

Please, live and eat freely on this Earth wherever you choose as long as it does not cause harm to others. If your government enforces an eviction based on outdated and immoral private property laws, which ignored the formal laws of the commons and of indigenous people, then you can simply show them this “new” title deed of the Earth’s unconditional love which I have sold to you for $0.00. If they refuse to accept it, you may wish to take them to their own Supreme Court to change this law, and who knows, you may eventually win because what I stated above is based on historical facts.

“Am I alone in buying unconditional love? Who else is doing this?”
You’re not alone. For example, there is the Law of the Rights of Mother Earth passed by the President of Bolivia. Indigenous cultures and ancient cultures lived this way. If you’re Christian, perhaps you could use your Canadian rights of religious freedom to live on the Earth based on Acts 2 and 4. “Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common.” This is not legal advice. Please consult your lawyer. Whatever path you decide is up to you!
The truth of the matter is simple. Love, the Earth, the Sun and the stars are not for sale and they cannot be owned for any other price than $0.00.

Can I repost this ad in my city? Can I translate it in my language? Can I share, copy, re-sale, edit, etc on my blog, news website, etc?
Yes. My public content is un-copyrighted, no rights reserved, and free to use, mix, etc, by all life forms including cats… I claim no ownership to my thoughts or pictures because they’re not ‘mine’ to own. I’m not a possessive guy, unless it’s chocolate cookies… Use your own name if you wish, no need to credit me. There’s an infinite amount of unconditional love, so feel free to look for buyers and re-sell it. The Earth’s unconditional love is yours. Why not post it in New York, London, Tokyo, Sydney, etc? Go for it.

“Would you accept £0 as well?”
Yes, I accept all foreign currency as long as it’s 0.00.

“What interesting emails have you received since posting this ad?”
Someone sent me an inspiring letter from the Chief of Seattle in the 1800. I found this inspiring and would like to share it with you: “The President in Washington sends word that he wishes to buy our land. But how can you buy or sell the sky? the land? The idea is strange to us. If we do not own the freshness of the air and the sparkle of the water, how can you buy them? … One thing we know – there is only one God. No man, be he Red man or White man, can be apart. We ARE all brothers after all.”

“This is amazing. How can I find out what happens with this sale?”
This ad will expire in 45 days due to Craigslist’s rules. But that’s okay because Love is eternal. And when I have time I’ll be posting updates on my Facebook if you want to follow: https://www.facebook.com/brown.rice.12

Bloom Where You Are Planted

bloom

Now Is the Time

by Madisyn Taylor

The time to blossom is now, not sometime in the future when you believe the stars will be aligned for you.

Having a vision for our future that differs from our current circumstances can be inspiring and exciting, but it can also keep us from fully committing to our present placement. We may become aware that this is happening when we notice our thoughts about the future distracting us from our participation in the moment. We may find upon searching our hearts that we are waiting for some future time or situation in order to self-actualize. This would be like a flower planted in North Dakota putting off blooming because it would prefer to do so in Illinois.

There are no guarantees in this life, so when we hold back we do so at the risk of never fully blossoming. This present moment always offers us the ground in which we can take root and open our hearts now. What this means is that we live fully, wherever we are, not hesitating because conditions are not perfect, or we might end up moving, or we haven’t found our life partner. This can be scary, because we might feel that we are giving up our cherished dreams if we do not agree to wait for them. But this notion that we have to hold back our life force now in order to find happiness later doesn’t really make sense. What might really be happening is that we are afraid to embrace this moment, and ourselves, just exactly as we are right now. This constitutes a tendency to hold back from fully loving ourselves, as we are, where we are.

We have a habit of presenting life with a set of conditions—ifs and whens that must be fulfilled before we will say yes to the gift of our lives. Now is the time for each of us to bloom where we are planted, overriding our tendency to hold back. Now is the time to say yes, to be brave and commit fully to ourselves, because until we do no one else will. Now is the time to be vulnerable, unfolding delicately yet fully into the space in which we find ourselves.

start today – Ending the Cycle

untitled

Each day offers us an opportunity to renew our resolve to the universe that we are ready for change. One of the hardest things in life is feeling stuck in a situation that we don’t like and want to change. We may have exhausted ourselves trying to figure out how to make change, and we may even have given up. However, each day offers us an opportunity to renew our resolve and to declare to the universe that we are ready for change. We may even say out loud that we have tried and struggled and have not found a way, but that we are open to help, and that we intend to keep working to create change for ourselves. Making this declaration to the universe, and to ourselves, may be just the remedy for the stagnation we are experiencing. And, it can be done today, right now.

It is difficult to understand, even with hindsight, how the choices we have made have added up to our current situation, but it is a good idea to examine the story we tell ourselves. If we tend to regard ourselves as having failed, this will block our ability to allow ourselves to succeed. We have the power to change the story we tell ourselves by acknowledging that in the past, we did our best, and we exhibited many positive qualities, and had many fine moments on our path to the present moment. We can also recognize that we have learned from our experiences, and that this will help us with our current choices.

When we do this kind of work on how we view our past self, we make it possible for the future to be based on a positive self-assessment. This inner shift may allow us to get out of the cycle we’ve been in that’s been keeping us stuck. Now we can declare our intentions to the universe, knowing that we have done the inner work necessary to allow our lives to change. Allow today to be the day to end cycles and enter into a new way of being.

Letting Nature Work
Silent Change

We all see things about ourselves, our relationships, and our world that we want to change. Often, this desire leads us to take action toward inner work that we need to do or toward some external goal. Sometimes, without any big announcement or momentous shift, we wake up to find that change has happened, seemingly without us. This can feel like a miracle as we suddenly see that our self-esteem really does seem to be intact, or our partner actually is helping out around the house more. We may even wonder whether all of our hard work had anything to do with it, or if it just happened by way of grace.

As humans, sometimes we have relatively short attention spans, and we can easily lose track of time. We may worry about a seedling in a pot with our constant attention and watering for several weeks only to find ourselves enjoying the blooms it offers and wondering when that happened, and how we didn’t notice it. Nature, on the other hand, has infinite patience and stays with a thing all the way through its life. This doesn’t mean that our efforts play no part in the miracle of change—they do. It’s just that they are one small part of the picture that finally results in the flowering of a plant, the shifting of a relationship, the softening of our hearts.

The same laws that govern the growth of plants oversee our own internal and external changes. We observe, consider, work, and wonder, tilling the soil of our lives, planting seeds, and tending them. Sometimes the hard part is knowing when to stop and let go, handing it over to the universe. Usually this happens by way of distraction or disruption, our attention being called away to other more pressing concerns. And it is often at these times, when we are not looking, in the silence of nature’s embrace, that the miracle of change happens.
